Our bridge is falling down,
We got caught in debris.
Agonising pain pours
Out of our mouths,
Damaging a shaky construction.
Our lives are burning down,
We haven’t time to flee,
Nor block the doors,
Nor build it up with iron bars
To delay the inescapable destruction.
We try to sweeten the fall-out,
Patch it up with gold and silver.
It backfires and turns on us,
It the lies we drown –
The peace is frail and shady.
We ignore and fool around,
Grabbing any available filler,
We try not to make a fuss, but
Our bridge has fallen down,
My fair Lady.
Brilliant! The last paragraph, perfect ending. 🙂
I am enjoying reading each of your takes.. 🙂
