The glasses forgotten on the bar,
Some dishes in the washer. A rebellious cat.
We’re tangled on the couch, laughing at the Star,
Whoever thought that life can turn out like that?
You would never dare, with your demons and past,
I would never hope for anything good to last.
But here we are giggling, like teens in love
And I praise whoever made it possible.
You snort and consider my gratitude laughable,
I indulge you, shrugging and snuggling close.
But secretly asking whoever stuck there above,
To keep this strong till death tears us apart.
And if they’re fond of me, like I knew from the start…
stretch our bond beyond.
